CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Produce multimedia content for KUOW podcasts. This is the first level in a two-level series; the next level is Producer 3 – Podcast.
BASIC FUNCTION
Produce multimedia content for podcasts for online and broadcast.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under the supervision of the Senior Editor, work with Senior Editor and host to develop ideas for podcast series. Pre-interview guests, provides host with background research, and write host introductions and interview questions.
Gather sound, conduct interviews in the field as assigned. Oversee studio recording sessions. Mix audio pieces and prepare podcasts for publishing.
TYPICAL WORK
Typical working titles are “Producer”, “Podcast Producer” or “Producer 2 – Podcast”;
Work with Senior Editor and host to develop ideas for podcast series;
Pre-interview guests and provide hosts with background research;
Write host introductions and interview questions;
Oversee studio recording sessions;
Mix audio pieces and prepare podcasts for publishing;
Gather sound, conduct interviews in the field as assigned; and
Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional broadcast journalism experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires knowledge of professional broadcast and journalistic standards and practices.
