Workday HCM integration project

We’re excited to share that on May 1, the ISC website will transition to “Employee Workday Help” and will continue to be your trusted resource for Workday HR and payroll support. In prep for this transition, when you use search on the UWHR site, results will be returned from the ISC and UWHR website so you can find both policy, process and Workday help.

UWHR, in collaboration with the Office of Academic Personnel and Finance, Planning & Budget, will  oversee the site maintenance for Employee Workday Help. And while you’ll notice a new name and look, the site will continue to be your trusted resource for Workday HR and payroll support. Keep reading to learn more about this important step in our ongoing effort to enhance Workday HCM support for the UW community.

Embracing Change, Enhancing Efficiency

Since introducing Workday in 2017, the University of Washington has significantly transformed its HR and payroll management. The Integrated Service Center (ISC) has been instrumental in supporting this system, ensuring stability and efficiency from the outset.

Fast forward to 2024, Workday Finance has been deployed and the University’s experience using Workday as its HR and payroll system has matured. In collaboration with key stakeholder from UWHR, the Office of Academic Personnel (OAP), UW Finance, Planning and Budgeting (FPB), and UW Information Technology (UW-IT), we are now transitioning into the next phase of Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) support by bringing it closer to the business, embedding teams that perform similar functions together. This phase is not just a transition of reporting lines; it is a commitment to an even more integrated, efficient and employee-focused service model.

Our commitment to an efficient transition is underscored by our clear and focused timeline. Teams across the University are diligently working to accomplish this transition by May 1, 2024, which includes moving Payroll to FPB and end-user support and HCM support into UWHR.

This page will be dedicated to providing information related to moving ISC functions into UWHR and serve as a home for related communications as we navigate the integration and stabilization phase of this effort and then move into a multi-year process improvement phase to streamline business processes and enhance training and end user support.

Campus involvement in envisioning the future state

The Workday HCM Support Client Forum will bring together a group of experienced and engaged HR practitioners with representation from all three campuses, across administrative and academic units, and with a high volume of transactions for both staff and academic human resources.

UWHR, in collaboration with OAP, will work with the Forum to:

  • Document current challenges for consideration during the planning of future-state HR service structures and strategies
  • Identify current duplication of effort, both technical and manual, to look for increased process efficiency
  • Gather overall business needs of the client community where it pertains to points of contact, processes, interaction, and user experience to inform the future-state employee-centered service model
  • Gather input and guidance into stabilization decisions, including reimagining WD training supports.
