Employment Training Specialist Assistant

CLASS SERIES CONCEPT

Provide employment assistance to adults with developmental, physical and/or psychological disabilities by identifying and developing job opportunities in the community, placing clients into competitive employment, furnishing clients with on-the-job training in the social and vocational skills necessary to maintain employment, providing ongoing follow-up, developing natural supports at the job site, functioning as a liaison between employer and client and serving as an advocate for client needs.

BASIC FUNCTION

Assist others with such tasks as job development, job placement, and on-the-job training for clients with developmental and/or other disabilities.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general supervision, participate in job development, job placement and on-the-job training for clients with developmental and/or other disabilities.

TYPICAL WORK

Assist in structuring jobs to meet the specific needs of individual clients; provide analysis of each specific task and develop a daily task sequence;

Assist in training clients placed in competitive jobs in the use of industry specific equipment and procedures; establish speed and quality performance standards required by the work place; assist clients in developing social and personal interaction skills; teach clients to use available transportation systems;

Collect, record and graph data on client performance and progress on the job;

Participate in decisions concerning changes in client programs, job structures or work procedures; present relevant data, observations, insights or opinions to appropriate parties;

Interact with client networks and co-workers in a professional and responsible manner;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS – Classified Non-Union

High School graduation and two years of experience in human services, working with the disabled community, or business

OR

Equivalent education/experience.
