Academic Counselor Principal – UAA

Typical Responsibilities
Supervises Academic Counselors who primarily serve undergraduate pre-majors, includes monitoring office assignments and workloads. Counsels or advises students and/or prospective students (individuals or groups) regarding course majors, career options, academic planning, degree requirements, and interpretation of course major and graduation requirements, university and program admissions, or readmission requirements, and related matters. Work with assigned UW academic majors, programs, and administrative departments including UW-Bothell and UW-Tacoma to counsel students. Serves on Gateway Center management team.

Supervisory Responsibility
Supervision of staff is required.

Overtime Eligibility
FLSA overtime status is based on the position’s duties and responsibilities, and whether or not the position’s gross salary is less than the federal FLSA salary basis test or the Washington state salary basis test, whichever is higher. Professional Staff Exemption
Counseling of Students: Individuals responsible for directing and/or participating in providing academic, athletic, career, medical, financial aid, student activity, and/or personal counseling to students.

Limitations
At least 50% of a position’s time should be spent on directly counseling students or managing the counseling of students. These payroll titles are limited for use by counseling positions located in Mary Gates Hall only.
