Job Summary:
Under the direction of the unit’s Chief Development and Community Relations Officer the position develops and administers fundraising programs and activities to support the unit’s overall development program. Position may be focused in a specialty of development (e.g. annual giving, corporate and foundation relations). Undertakes and manages special project specific fund-raising campaigns as assigned. Develops goals and strategies, plans, organizes and directs the project and/or fundraising campaign. May serve as the school’s annual giving development officer. Liaison to the central annual giving office regarding direct mail and telepledge programs. Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards individuals capable of making gifts up to $25,000. Emphasis is on securing multi-year pledges. Generates new leads for major gift prospects through annual giving activities. Works with major gift officer in developing and executing solicitation strategies. Assists in cultivating potential donors to the unit through coordinating and participating in special activities and events. Represents the unit and the institution community and professional functions as appropriate.

Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience in development work, or comparable sales/marketing experience. Prior experience in annual giving or corporate/foundation relations is highly desirable.

Major Gifts Officer

Job Summary:
Works with the unit’s Chief Development and Community Relations Officer, unit leaders, volunteers and other development staff to identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects for gifts in support of a school or college. Plays a key role in developing a strategic plan for the unit’s overall development effort, has a leadership role for implementing parts of the resulting plan. Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards major gift prospects, including members of the business community, or other key users of the unit’s services as appropriate. Develops and implements a solicitation strategy for each assigned major gift prospect. Prepares written proposals, informational materials, endowment agreements, gift illustrations and other materials needed to secure major gifts. Provides strategic leadership to unit’s management and staff in designing and implementing development programs needed to sustain major gift support. Coordinates their participation in major fundraising activities. Dovetails development activities of the unit with the programs and services of the central development office. Participates in the marketing materials for the major gift effort, and major gift cultivation and stewardship activities and events.

Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience in development work, or comparable experience in a competitive sales/marketing role. Prior experience in cultivating, soliciting and closing major gifts.
