CLASS SERIES CONCEPT

Maintain equipment and provide treatment, diagnostic testing, rehabilitation and care of patients with deficiencies or abnormalities which affect the cardiopulmonary system.

BASIC FUNCTION

Maintain, clean, deliver, and change respiratory therapy equipment; initiate patient charges.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under direct supervision, maintain respiratory therapy equipment and supplies; process charges.

TYPICAL WORK

Maintain, clean, sterilize, transport, and distribute all respiratory and resuscitation equipment;

Assemble, test and make patient-ready respiratory equipment;

Order and stock respiratory supplies;

Change patient’s respiratory equipment per department schedule;

Respond to pages and codes throughout the hospital;

Inspect cardiac arrest resuscitation equipment and exchange crash carts as needed;

Stock and change compressed gas cylinders;

Initiate charges for respiratory therapy procedures and equipment;

Assist the respiratory therapist with patient transports;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduation.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
