Employment Training Specialist Lead

BASIC FUNCTION

Lead assigned staff. Develop job stations for assessments and conduct assessments of current and potential clients. Coordinate job development, placement, on-the-job training and ongoing maintenance of assigned clients with disabilities.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others. With delegated authority, may participate in interviewing and recommending selection of applicants, conducting training, assigning and scheduling work, assisting in conducting performance appraisals and recommending corrective action. Under general direction, develop and implement protocols for the department/unit. Develop work stations and conduct assessments of current and potential clients.

TYPICAL WORK

Develop and implement protocols for accessing jobs in the community appropriate for clients with developmental and other disabilities; assist co-workers in implementing these protocols;

Maintain and modify computer programs for job development;

Develop and implement protocols for creating natural supports on job sites;

May assist in interviewing, checking references, recommending selection of staff; assist in evaluating performance; assist in training; participate in recommending corrective action;

Perform the duties of Employment Training Specialist;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS – Classified Non-Union

Bachelor’s degree in special education, psychology, rehabilitation, vocational counseling, or related field AND one year of experience as an Employment Training Specialist

OR

Equivalent education/experience.
