BASIC FUNCTION

Lead and provide information to Cardiac Monitor Technicians and other assigned staff, and perform the work of Cardiac Monitor Technician.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general supervision, regularly assign, instruct, and check the work of others, train and orient staff, and provide feedback on employee performance. Assist in carrying out the services of the unit by serving as a contact for other patient care providers and identifying and resolving concerns.

TYPICAL WORK

Serve as a point of contact for the department;

Participate in interviewing applicants;

Train and orient new employees;

Provide feedback to the manager and/or delegee for employee performance evaluations, corrective action plans, and training plans;

Review and correct the work performed by others for compliance with established procedures;

Identify and resolve problems or unusual situations; recommend changes as necessary;

Monitor and evaluate policies and procedures to suggest operational changes;

In collaboration with the manager, develop work standards and ensure compliance with quality assurance measures and departmental policies and procedures;

Participate in quality assurance projects and initiatives, in coordination with the manager and/or department leadership.

Perform the work of the Cardiac Monitor Technician;

Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED and completion of a course in cardiac dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation, and two years of experience in monitor surveillance in a coronary care/telemetry unit.

Equivalent education/experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
