Comprehensive new employee assistance program, WA EAP, is active

Last updated: September 28, 2023

As of July 1, UW employees have access to a fantastic new benefit with the Washington State Employee Assistance Program (WA EAP)—a free health and well-being program that is just for Washington state employees, based right here in our state.

In partnering with the Washington EAP, UW will offer PEBB-eligible employees comprehensive work/life resources like legal assistance, financial counseling and employee support programs staffed locally in Washington—just like the many other benefits UW provides its employees.

Employees and their family members can access the confidential WA EAP any time of day, seven days a week to gather information or talk to a local professional counselor. WA EAP has a knowledgeable, diverse and multi-lingual counselor network who will connect you to resources that can help.

One of the most utilized benefits of the WA EAP is its three free counseling sessions for employees to safely explore topics concerning them. Employees can use this benefit as many times as needed for any new issue that may arise. And because WA EAP is part of our state benefits package, it is easy to request a counselor that accepts your state health insurance plan, so you can continue counseling for issues that require longer-term care.

Managers and HR professionals will have access through the WA EAP to management and supervisor support programs, critical incident stress management support, trainings and webinars.

How to access WA EAP

Starting July 1, accessing confidential WA EAP services can be done by phone or on the web:

  • Access counseling, critical incident stress management and other services at eap.wa.gov or call 1-877-313-4455.
  • To access legal and financial consultation, call 1-888-728-1408.
  • Online work/life resources, including articles, eldercare and childcare referrals, shopping discounts and more: access work/life services here, using “UW” for the organization code.
