CLASS SERIES CONCEPT

Within the UW Libraries, provide professional level programmatic direction and control in support of specific libraries programs.

BASIC FUNCTION

Direct or control programs or events for UW Libraries.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under Administrative direction, utilize specialized knowledge to make decisions and exercise independent judgment for programs, such as but not limited to accessibility, non-cash gifts, purchasing, grants, or online learning support. Allocate program or subject area library resources, establish policies, methods and procedures, and ensure compliance with institutional and library policies and regulations. Serve as the subject matter expert for program-specific related questions or requests.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervision exercised typically includes all types of supervision exercised at grade 8, plus supervision of supervisory contract classified staff or Professional Libraries Employees in a lower grade. A larger number of direct and indirect reports is more common at this grade.

Positions performing the work of this job profile that supervise at least 1.0 FTE regular, non-temporary PLE positions must be placed in the appropriate supervisory bargaining unit job code.

TYPICAL WORK

Develop and maintain oversight for large-scale program or events and services, which include implementing strategic short- and long-term goals, initiatives, projects, and program plans;

Perform analysis using specialized knowledge of program area to deliver continuous process improvement;

Develop and implement program policies and procedures; maintain oversight and ensure compliance;

Prepare and manage complex affiliated budgets and ensure compliance with University policies and procedures;

Initiate, create, and assess vendor contracts;

Serve as the subject matter expert for program-specific related questions or requests;

Create and deliver marketing and communications relative to program initiatives and events;

Create and deliver contracts and requisitions on behalf of units, following all required policies and procedures;

May supervise or provide work direction to other staff;

May perform the work of a Libraries Program Operations Specialist 8; and

Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and 4-5 years of work experience.

OR

Equivalent combination of education/experience.
