CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Within the UW Libraries, utilize specialized knowledge to provide support in managing, providing outreach, and obtaining collections. Typical collections managed by this series include still photography, music or motion video.
BASIC FUNCTION
Support the libraries by managing and obtaining collections.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under general supervision, utilize specialized knowledge to manage a collection of materials. This includes obtaining materials, providing outreach and instruction.
TYPICAL WORK
Select collections to bring into the Libraries or help manage while they remain in another organization’s possession. This includes working with donors and cultivating relationships with owners of collections of interest;
Provide professional, technical, and subject-specific expertise and support to public services staff, researchers, and other department staff through consultation;
Conduct outreach and teaching about the collections;
Direct and carry out physical management of collections including preservation review and physical organization of collections;
Describe, analyze and apply intellectual organization of collections;
May supervise staff; and
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree area of curatorial focus, and 1 year of curatorial work experience

Equivalent combination of education/experience.
