Negotiations Recap for January 26, 2017

This recap summarizes the seventh session to incorporate pharmacy technicians and imaging technologist supervisory employees at Harborview Medical Center into the SEIU 1199 collective bargaining agreement.

Respectful Work Environment

The parties tentatively agreed to memorialize their commitment to promote an environment of mutual respect and professionalism that is free of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. The parties will also facilitate respectful workplace discussions through the joint labor-management process.

Imaging Technologist Education/QA Bargaining Unit

UW proposed language committing the parties to update sections of the contract that speak to bargaining unit composition for imaging technologist education/QA employees in accordance with the Public Employment Relations Commission’s (PERC’s) final determination on the matter. The union expressed agreement with this concept.

Layoff Units

The parties tentatively agreed that imaging technologist supervisors and education/QA employees will share their own layoff unit and that the pharmacy technician series will share its own layoff unit.

Next Steps

The next UW-SEIU 1199 bargaining session is scheduled for February 22, 2017.
