UW & SEIU 925 Continuum College Negotiations Recap for July 31th 2025
Background
This recap details the thirteenth session for the negotiation for the collective bargaining agreement between SEIU 925-Continuum College and UW. Recaps are published online on the UW Labor Relations website.
SEIU 925- Continuum College Initial Proposals
Article – Immigration Support Leave Bank
The Union proposed an article that the Employer would create a program that permits eligible UW employees to donate a portion of their paid time off to financially aid other UW employees who will need to take a leave of absence or separate from employment because the employee is in immigration proceedings.
Article – Expectations for Collaboration and Communication
The Union proposed an article that outlines that clear communication, transparent expectation setting, and intentional planning are foundational to effective collaboration. The Union proposes that if a project requires stakeholders from more than one department, the supervisors of the departments would outline clear expectations for what aspects of the project would be completed by which teams and roles. The Union proposes that decisions that pertain to financial status, organizational structure, and strategic planning would be communicated to employees and would utilize the Equitable Decision Making Guide.
UW – Initial Proposals
Article – Workspace and Materials
The Employer proposed an article that the University would provide workspace and materials required for the position and project(s) as determined by the Employer and employees would be accountable for the materials and equipment provided to them. Employees who misuse, vandalize, lose or damage Employer property may be subject to corrective action. Employees would be required to return all Employer provided or purchased equipment and materials. In those cases where an employee fails to return the provided or purchased equipment and/or materials, the Employer may deduct the value of the items from the employee’s final pay.
SEIU 925- Continuum College Counter Proposals
Article – Workspace and Materials
In response to the Employer, the Union proposed to add a list of examples of items that the Employer would provide. The Union proposed the Employer would repair or replace Employer provided tools and equipment if damaged or worn out beyond usefulness in the normal course of business. The Union proposed the Employer would provide necessary equipment for telework per University policy and if the employee is required to pick up or drop off any provided equipment this shall occur during paid time.
Article – Duration
In response to the Employer, the Union proposed a small housekeeping edit.
Article – Employee Assistance Program
In response to the Employer, the Union proposed a small housekeeping edit to clarify that EAP can be used to help identify and resolve personal concerns related to health, safety and well-being.

The next UW & SEIU Continuum College bargaining session is scheduled for August 20, 2025 and will be held on zoom.
