UW Management Fundamentals
Starting in January 2025, UW Human Resources is supporting a suite of free classes to enhance managers’ success.
UW Management Fundamentals classes empower supervisors and other organizational leaders with best practices, policy information and strategies for hiring and managing employees at the UW.
Although additional sections were added and class maximums were increased, demand quickly outpaced capacity and all 300 seats in these winter classes filled quickly! We encourage you to sign up for the waitlist in case space opens up or to be informed about future offerings.
An additional free class, Employment Law & UW Policies, will be offered spring 2025, and we anticipate this suite of free classes will grow. You can find these classes under the UW Management Fundamentals category in POD’s online catalog.
Funding these classes aligns with UWHR’s strategic focus to develop programs that are both inclusive and equitable and that enhance manager expertise; in addition, these classes help address 2020 Campus Climate Survey responses indicating a strong need for additional training for supervisors.
For staff: To improve access to career and professional development opportunities, POD offers scholarships for its classes, with priority given to classified staff and professional staff grades 5–9.
