UW & SEIU 925 Continuum College Negotiations Recap for December 3, 2025

Background

This recap details the twenty forth session for the negotiation for the collective bargaining agreement between SEIU 925-Continuum College and UW. Recaps are published online on the UW Labor Relations website.

 

UW – Counter Proposals

Performance Evaluation

In response to the Union, the Employer proposed language that the Employer would, make available training opportunities for all managers and supervisors regarding the Employer’s performance evaluation program and would upon request, share and discuss the contents of such training opportunities with the Union.

 

SEIU 925 Continuum College – Counter Proposals

Health & Safety

In response to the Employer, the Union proposed language that if work is suspended in accordance with the Inclement Weather and Suspended Operations article.  Affected employees may be assigned to alternative work sites, including telework work sites, until the hazardous condition is rectified and operations are no longer suspended and If assignment to an alternative work site is not possible and it is not possible to telework and the supervisor decides to send the employee(s) home, those employees sent home would receive their regular pay for all time the employee(s) is scheduled to work on the day of the incident.. The Union also proposed that the supervisor/manager would provide training and equipment for staff to safely perform job functions and avoid injury.

 

Financial Communications & Transparency

In response to the Employer, the Union proposed that in the annual recap, the Employer would communicate information on revenue spending on internal and external projects and external funding sources, including but not limited to gifts, grants and scholarships.

 

Hours of Work

In response to the Employer, the Union reasserted  language around work outside the scope of their job classification, excessive workload, and inequitable distribution of work projects.

 

Classification and Reclassification

The Union proposed language that all new SEIU 925 Continuum College job profiles would be considered included in the bargaining unit, unless exempted by law (RCW 41.56.401and that language would not be considered a waiver of the rights of either party.

 

Tentative Agreements

Reasonable Accommodations

The parties agreed to an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the SEIU 925 – IHME contract. Language was added around the Leave and Accommodation Specialist as well as promoting accessibility in the workplace.

 

Management Rights

The parties agreed to an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the SEIU 925 – IHME contract. Edits were made where classification and reclassification were replaced with job profile assignment and position review.

 

Next Steps

The next UW and SEIU 925 Continuum College bargaining session is scheduled for December 18, 2025 and will be held virtually.
