UW & SEIU 925 Continuum College Negotiations Recap for September 3rd 2025
Background
This recap details the sixteenth session for the negotiation for the collective bargaining agreement between SEIU 925-Continuum College and UW. Recaps are published online on the UW Labor Relations website.
SEIU 925- Continuum College Counter Proposals
New Article – Inclement Weather and Suspended Operations
In response to the Employer, the Union agreed to much of the Employer proposed edits but added that in accordance with UW Policy APS 45.2, makeup time worked following suspended operations would be completed within ninety (90) calendar days of the date on which the period of suspended operations has ended. Make up time not completed within the ninety (90) calendar days would be converted to unpaid time off.
New Article – New Employees
In response to the Employer, the Union proposed a NEO, either online or in person, would be included on an employees’ onboarding agenda or checklist.
New Article – Hiring, Promotions, and Transfers
In response to the Employer, the Union proposed to add that the Employer would provide all employees notice when applications are being accepted for a vacant bargaining unit position by email and by posting an announcement via the Sharepoint Hub. The Union also proposed that at least two bargaining unit applicants per job requisition, who are regular monthly employees and who possess the essential skills, would be among those granted an interview for bargaining unit positions. Interviews and priority consideration of bargaining unit applicants would take place prior to interviews of outside candidates. The Union proposed to lower the trial service period for movement between positions to 6 weeks.
UW – Counter Proposals
New Article – Professional Development
In response to the Union, the Employer removed the sections around release time and travel as they are covered in other articles. The Employer proposed to remove the Union proposed section around auditing Continuum College courses.
Tentative Agreements
New Article – Union Activities, Rights, and Stewards
The parties agreed to an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the SEIU 925 – IHME. Language was added that all requests for information will clearly identify what information is being sought and include the reason for the request.

The next UW & SEIU Continuum College bargaining session is scheduled for September 25, 2025 and will be held on zoom.
