UW & SEIU 925 Continuum College Negotiations Recap for May 5th 2025
Background
This recap details the eight session for the negotiation for the collective bargaining agreement between SEIU 925-Continuum College and UW. Recaps are published online on the UW Labor Relations website.
SEIU 925- Continuum College Initial Proposals
Article – Health and Safety
The Union proposed an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the SEIU 925 – IHME contract.
Article – Late Night Work Meals and Transportation
The Union proposed an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the SEIU 925 – IHME contract.
Article – Employee Assistance Program
The Union proposed an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the SEIU 925 – IHME contract. The Union also incorporated sections from the SEIU 925 contract regarding the Employer and the Union encouraging and supporting employee participation in appropriate programs including the Washington State Employee Assistance Program (WA EAP).
Article – Personnel Files
The Union proposed an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the SEIU 925 – IHME contract.
UW – Counter Proposals
Article – Civil/Jury Duty Time Off and Bereavement Time Off
In response to the Union, the Employer proposed to expand the definition of a family member to match the definition of a family member in the sick time off article.
Article- Absence Due to Family Care Emergencies
In response to the Union, the Employer proposed to counter the proposed article Absence Due to Personal Emergencies which was an expansion of the Absence Due to Child Care Emergencies article from SEIU 925 contract with an article Absence Due to Family Care Emergencies which matches much of the language from the SEIU 925 contract.
SEIU 925- Continuum College Counter Proposals
Article- Telework
In response to the Employer, the Union proposed to add new language around aligning Continuum College with the UW telework policy. This language includes allowing staff flexibility in choosing anchor days, allowing staff to switch anchor days when occasionally needed, and providing clear articulation of the right work from out of state and of the potential for such work to be regular and occasional remote work.

The next UW & SEIU Continuum College bargaining session is scheduled for May 12, 2025 and will be held in person.
