UW – SAG-AFTRA Negotiations Recap 3/30/23

Background

This recap details the seventeenth session for the negotiation of the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Washington (UW) and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) for KUOW. Both parties were joined by Public Employment Relations Commission mediator Sean Leonard. Recaps are published online on the UW Labor Relations website.

Compensation Counter Proposals

Lump Sum

Union:

  • A lump sum of $3500 to each employee in Producer 1, Producer 2, Producer/Announcer, Web Producer, and Production Engineer job classifications paid on July 1, 2023
  • A lump sum of $3000 to each employee in the other job classifications paid on July 1, 2023

Employer:

  • A lump sum of $1700 to each employee in Announcer, Producer 1, Producer 2, Producer/Announcer, Board Operator, Web Producer, and Production Engineer job classifications paid on September 25, 2023
  • A lump sum of $1300 to each employee in the other job classifications paid on September 25, 2023

Contract Duration

Union:

Contract duration of upon ratification through September 30, 2025

Employer:

Contract duration of upon ratification through January 31, 2026

Minimum Salaries and across the board increase

Employer:

  • 9% increase to minimum salaries on the first pay period following ratification
  • 3% across-the-board increase to all members of the bargaining unit on the first pay period following ratification
  • 4% across-the-board and minimum salary increase on January 1, 2024
  • 3% across-the-board and minimum salary increase on January 1, 2025

Union:

  • 9% increase to minimum salaries on April 1, 2023
  • 3% across-the-board increase to all members of the bargaining unit on April 1, 2023
  • 4% across-the-board and minimum salary increase on July 1, 2023
  • 3% across-the-board and minimum salary increase on July 1, 2024

Next Steps 

The parties are scheduling a subsequent bargaining session. Date to be determined.
