UW – SAG-AFTRA Negotiations Recap 3/23/23

Background

This recap details the sixteenth session for the negotiation of the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Washington (UW) and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) for KUOW. Both parties were joined by Public Employment Relations Commission mediator Sean Leonard. Recaps are published online on the UW Labor Relations website.

Employer Compensation Counter Proposal

The Employer’s most recent compensation package includes the following components:

  • 9% increase to minimum salaries on the first pay period following ratification
  • 3% across-the-board increase to all members of the bargaining unit on the first pay period following ratification
  • 4% across-the-board and minimum salary increase on January 1, 2024
  • 3% across-the-board and minimum salary increase on January 1, 2025
  • A lump sum of $1300 to each employee paid on September 25, 2023
  • Contract duration of upon ratification through January 31, 2026

Union Compensation Counter Proposal

The Union’s most recent compensation package includes the following components:

  • 11.475% increase to minimum salaries on the first pay period following ratification for Announcer, Producer 1, Producer 2, Producer/Announcer, Board Operator, Web Producer, and Production Engineer job classifications
  • 9.25% increase to minimum salaries on the first pay period following ratification for all other job classifications
  • 3.25% across-the-board increase to all members of the bargaining unit on the first pay period following ratification
  • 4% across-the-board and 5% minimum salary increase on January 1, 2024 (employees will receive the across the board or an increase to the minimum scale whichever is higher)
  • 3.25% across-the-board and 5% minimum salary increase on January 1, 2025 (employees will receive the across the board or an increase to the minimum scale whichever is higher)
  • A lump sum of $3000 to each employee paid on September 25, 2023
  • Contract duration of upon ratification and lasts for 36 months

The next UW & Sag-Aftra bargaining session is scheduled for March 30, 2023 and will be held virtually.
