UAW RSE – UW Negotiations Recap for August 15
This recap details the first virtual session between the University of Washington (UW) and United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 4121 for the first collective bargaining agreement (CBA) for Research Scientist Engineers (RSEs). Recaps are published online on the UW Labor Relations website.
During the first bargaining session, both parties gave introductions and then the Union presented their priorities for their first contract, which include the following items:
- Career paths for RSEs
- Pay and benefits
- Equity, diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility
- Safe and fair work environments
Both parties agreed to ground rules for the negotiations that govern how bargaining sessions will be scheduled and run, as well as how proposals will be passed between the parties and how tentative agreements will be reached.
The next UW and UAW bargaining session for RSEs is scheduled for September 26 and will be held virtually.
