UW IHME & SEIU 925 Negotiations Recap for August 13, 2020
Background
This recap details the twelfth virtual session for the initial collective bargaining agreement between the UW IHME and SEIU 925. Recaps are published online on the UW Labor Relations website.
Tentative Agreements
The parties signed tentative agreements to close the following provisions:
- Article 21 – Federal Family Medical Leave Act
- Based off of the main SEIU 925 CBA, with edits to remove the buyback necessity for workers’ compensation time loss benefits
- Article 30 – Work Related Injury Leave
- Based off of the main SEIU 925 CBA, revised TA with housekeeping edits to align with Article 21
- Article XX – Parental Leave
- Based off of the main SEIU 925 CBA, resulting in an allowance of up to six (6) months for parental leave
- Article XX – Vacation Leave
- No changes to the current accrual schedule for these employees
- Language clarifies the IHME specific process for making vacation requests
- Article XX – Probation
- Similar to the main SEIU 925 CBA, following the initial appointment to a position, employees will need to serve a six (6) month probationary period
In this session, the parties exchanged additional proposals on:
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
- Seniority, Layoff, and Rehire
- Information on Grants and Contracts
- Holidays

The next UW IHME and SEIU 925 bargaining sessions are scheduled for August 25 and 27.
