UW – UWHA Negotiations Recap for April 15, 2020

Background

This recap details the twenty-eighth session and second virtual session for the renewal of the collective bargaining agreement between the UW and UWHA. This was the eighth session to be facilitated by a State-appointed mediator. Recaps are published online on the UW Labor Relations website.

Tentative Agreements

The parties tentatively agreed to the following articles:

Article 3 – Definitions

  • Expanded resident definition to include CBA references to dentists; added definition for accredited

Article 11 – Leave Extended

  • Added Washington Family Medical Leave information; changes to extended leave section to encompass those working at training programs outside Washington State

Counter Proposals

Relocation Stipend –The Union maintained its proposal for a $300 relocation stipend per resident during the first month of training.

Professional Development and Licensing –The Union maintained its proposal to increase professional development funds to $400 per resident, per academic year, will rollover up to $2,000. The Employer has proposed no increase to the funds, and maintains the current rollover language at $1,000.

The next UW and UWHA bargaining session is scheduled for April 21.
