Background
This recap details the first session for the negotiation for the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Washington and SEIU 925-Advisers. Recaps are published online on the UW Labor Relations website.
SEIU 925 Advisers – Initial Proposals
Union Priorities
In the first session, the union shared the following top bargaining priorities as determined through a member survey:
- Compensation,
- Job security and layoff prevention,
- Advancement and promotion,
- Benefits (PTO, sick leave, childcare support, etc.),
- Flexible schedule and remote work,
- Workload and caseload, and
- Diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and accommodations.

The Union’s proposal matches much of the same language from the similar article in the SEIU 925 – IHME contract with a placeholder for the unit description from the Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC). The Union is proposing hourly staff be represented in the bargaining unit.
