Faculty time off and leaves
This web page applies to University faculty and provides a general overview of leaves and time offs.
Faculty paid sick, medical or family leave
Per the Faculty Sick Leave Policy, faculty may be eligible for up to 90 calendar days of paid sick leave.
Faculty paid parental leave policy
Paid Parental Leave is separate from temporary disability leave due to pregnancy, childbirth, and recovery therefrom that is available only to birth parents.
Leave without pay
The information on this page applies to leave without pay that is discretionary and not an entitlement such as a leave associated with FMLA.
Time off for domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or hate crime
You may take reasonable time off as a single block of time, on an intermittent basis, or on a reduced schedule to seek help if you or your family member is a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or hate crime.
Military duty leave and military family leave
University employees who are in the uniformed services, and their spouses, are entitled to employment protections under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).
Summer hiatus
Summer Hiatus is a leave of absence in Workday used for faculty and AFT extension lecturers with a 9-month service period who aren’t teaching over summer quarter and are scheduled to return in the fall.
