Background
This recap details the nineth session for the negotiation for the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Washington and SEIU 925-Advisers. Recaps are published online on the UW Labor Relations website.
UW: Initial Proposal
The Employer presented proposed job profiles and accompanying class specifications. Below is a job series overview:
- Academic Adviser
- Advise current and prospective students in developing and following academic plans that align with their educational and career goals, navigating barriers to academic success, and accessing support resources. Provide regular, ongoing support and guidance.
- Access Coordinator
- Advise and support students with disabilities including determining eligibility for academic adjustments, auxiliary aids, and services. Aid students in requesting academic accommodation and work with faculty and staff to implement accommodation plans. Provide regular, ongoing support and guidance.
- Admissions Adviser
- In a central enrollment and admissions office within the Office of the Provost, UW Bothell or UW Tacoma, counsel prospective and incoming students and applicants on admission or transfer to the UW. Provide regular, ongoing support and guidance.
- Career Adviser
- Advise current students and alumni on career options and opportunities including but not limited to internships, research pathways, graduate school, and job shadowing related to student fields of study and career interests. Provide regular, ongoing support and guidance.
- Financial Aid and Funding Adviser
- Advise current and prospective students on understanding financial aid packages, scholarships, fellowships, emergency aid, and other funding. Help students with the FAFSA, WASFA, scholarship, and other funding application processes and process student requests related to funding decisions. Provide regular, ongoing support and guidance.
- International Student Adviser
- Advise current and prospective students on visa compliance, immigration benefits, and immigration rules, regulations, and policies. Provide regular, ongoing support, and guidance.
- Student Services and Activities Adviser
- Advise, support, mentor, and/or coordinate student support programs and/or student activities, including but not limited to registered student organizations, department-sponsored student groups, experiential learning opportunities, and peer adviser, student leadership, and study abroad programs. Provide regular, ongoing support, and guidance.
- Student Success Adviser
- Advise and support current students, prospective students, and program participants from underserved, marginalized, or other specific populations with unique needs to navigate institutional barriers. Provide regular, ongoing support and guidance.
SEIU 925 Advisers: Initial Proposal
Article XX: Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The Union proposed an article on artificial intelligence, listing their proposed criteria that would need to be met to utilize AI.
