UW & SEIU 925 Continuum College Negotiations Recap for February 3, 2026
Background
This recap details the twenty eighth session for the negotiation for the collective bargaining agreement between SEIU 925-Continuum College and UW. The parties were joined by a mediator from the Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC). Recaps are published online on the UW Labor Relations website.
SEIU 925 – Continuum College Counter Proposals
In response to the Employer’s proposal, the Union proposed a package in which all aspects of the proposal would need to be accepted as written in its entirety.
Article: Layoff, Seniority and Rehire
In response to the Employer, the Union reasserted its proposed language requiring that the Employer identify and notify affected employees at least forty-five (45) days in advance. Additionally, the Union reasserted proposed language to add “suspension” and strike “furloughs” from the notice period provisions that do not apply to emergency layoffs.
Article: Mandatory Subjects
The Union also withdrew language from its prior proposal stating that if the Union submitted a request for information at the same time as a request to bargain, the thirty (30) calendar day period would not begin until the information request has been fulfilled.
Article: Telework
In response to the Employer, the Union reasserted language referencing the UW Telework Policy and proposed language stating that Continuum has regular telework days and in-office anchor days. The Union also proposed that employees can telework on an anchor day at least once per month. Additionally, the Union proposed including references to resources regarding suspended operations and the UW Telework Agreement.
