CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Within Continuum College, responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of web-based applications and services. Focus on delivering scalable, secure, and user-centered digital solutions that support organizational operations, academic programs, and administrative services.
BASIC FUNCTION
Support design and integration between UW enterprise services and external platforms. Serves as technical system administrator for the non-credit student information system (SIS), configuring connections, monitoring performance, and ensuring secure, reliable data flows.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under general supervision, operate within cross-functional teams to deliver integration and web solutions, with an emphasis on full-stack development with integration architecture and platform administration.
TYPICAL WORK
Participate in the design, development, testing, and deployment of integrations between Continuum College systems, UW enterprise services, and external platforms using technologies such as MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, C#/Java/Python, and SQL.
Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, and system owners to understand requirements, model data flows, and deliver secure and scalable integration solutions.
Implement best practices for integration security, including Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) compliance, authentication, and data protection.
Document integration designs, configurations, and processes. Provide knowledge transfer and technical support to internal stakeholders.
Serve as technical system administrator for the non-credit SIS, including system configuration, integration setup and monitoring, and providing first-level technical support for staff using the system.
Maintain and enhance existing integrations, including fee-based SIS connections, ensuring stability, performance, and compliance with UW security policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of relevant experience.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration
CIVIL SERVICE EXEMPTION
Senior Computer Systems and Network Programming: Individuals having demonstrated professional competence in computer systems and network programming above the journey-level, who independently perform work assignments, and devise methods and processes to meet new and unique work requirements and problems. Employees having substantial responsibility in at least one of the following areas: Applying systems analysis techniques and procedures including consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications; designing, developing, documenting, analyzing, creating, testing, or modifying computer systems or programs, including prototypes based on and related to user or system design specifications; designing, documenting, testing, creating, or modifying computer programs related to machine operating systems; or a combination of these duties, the performance of which requires the same level of skills.
