CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Within Continuum College, lead the delivery, support, and continuous improvement of technology services within a specific unit. Combine technical expertise with operational leadership; ensuring that systems, infrastructure, and support services align with organizational goals.
BASIC FUNCTION
Oversee the planning, implementation, and support of technology services and systems for a specific unit. May supervise technical staff, manage helpdesk operations, administer databases and infrastructure, and lead technology-related projects. Ensure that technology solutions are reliable, secure, and responsive to the evolving needs of the organization.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under limited supervision, lead a team, manage projects, and serve as the primary liaison between technical services and organizational leadership. Maintain a hands-on role in service delivery while also contributing to strategic planning and policy development within the unit.
TYPICAL WORK
Lead helpdesk and technical support within a specific unit. May supervise staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and workload management.
Lead the design and implementation of new technologies and operational policies.
Work closely with stakeholders to assess needs and deliver solutions.
Oversee hardware and software procurement, installation, and lifecycle management.
Provide support for network, telecommunications, and peripheral systems.
Oversee administration of enterprise databases, including design, maintenance, and user support.
Develop and coordinate training for end users.
Ensure compliance with institutional standards.
Contribute to budget development and maintenance.
Manage vendor relationships.
Participate in strategic planning for technology services.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of relevant experience.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration
CIVIL SERVICE EXEMPTION
Senior Computer Systems and Network Programming: Individuals having demonstrated professional competence in computer systems and network programming above the journey-level, who independently perform work assignments, and devise methods and processes to meet new and unique work requirements and problems. Employees having substantial responsibility in at least one of the following areas: Applying systems analysis techniques and procedures including consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications; designing, developing, documenting, analyzing, creating, testing, or modifying computer systems or programs, including prototypes based on and related to user or system design specifications; designing, documenting, testing, creating, or modifying computer programs related to machine operating systems; or a combination of these duties, the performance of which requires the same level of skills.
