CLASS SERIES CONCEPT

Within Continuum College, write and edit communication materials requiring special knowledge, initiative, and judgment for use in communicating about the programs, accomplishments and point of view. Consult with clients and/or meet with subject matter experts to gather information for use in communications.

BASIC FUNCTION

Develop and manage audience-focused content across multiple formats and platforms, ensuring consistency in tone, accessibility, and engagement through research and optimization. Lead integrated marketing campaigns, coordinate cross-functional projects, and foster partnerships to expand reach and support organizational goals.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general supervision, participate in community outreach, editorial content and communication project management.

TYPICAL WORK

Craft clear, engaging, and audience-focused content across multiple formats, ensuring consistency in tone and messaging.

Establish and update standards for voice, tone, grammar, and formatting to ensure consistency across all communications.

Conduct audience research and content audits to inform strategic decisions that improve audience engagement and content effectiveness.

Optimize content for search engines and ensure compliance with accessibility standards to reach broader audiences.

Plan and implement integrated campaigns that align with organizational goals, track performance, and adjust strategies based on results.

Schedule and publish content across multiple channels, monitor engagement, and maintain a consistent posting cadence aligned with campaign goals.

Serve as a liaison between departments and outside partners to manage timelines, deliverables, and approvals for marketing and content projects.

Foster partnerships to expand reach, share resources, and support collaborative initiatives that align with organizational values.

Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

CIVIL SERVICE EXEMPTION

Public Information: Managerial or professional level positions having substantial responsibility for planning and directing the development and communication of information designed to keep the public informed of the institution’s programs, accomplishments, and point of view. Individuals exercise discretion in determining content of written copy. Other duties may include creating ideas, laying out artwork, contacting media representatives, and representing the institution directly before the general public.
