Within Continuum College, lead and coordinate projects that support institutional goals, program development, and operational improvement. Manage timelines, resources, and stakeholder engagement across diverse functional areas.
If the primary focus is to coordinate continuing education programs, focusing on the operational aspects, then a Continuing Education Coordinator job profile may be more appropriate.
BASIC FUNCTION
Perform increasingly complex project management duties in support of a variety of academic, administrative, or operational initiatives. Lead projects from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities, timelines, and resource constraints. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define goals, manage deliverables, and monitor progress. Apply project management methodologies to support planning, execution, and continuous improvement.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under limited supervision, manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects that are not primarily technology focused. Navigate academic and administrative structures utilizing knowledge and expertise in organizational, communication, and facilitation skills. Operate with a high degree of autonomy, lead through ambiguity, influence outcomes, train and mentor others, and contribute to strategic planning and operational excellence.
TYPICAL WORK
Responsible for leading projects that support program development, strategic initiatives, or operational improvements. Ensure alignment with institutional goals.
Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets. Monitor status in line with project activities, plans or priorities, recommending and initiating corrective action as needed.
Implement governance structures as needed.
Serve as primary liaison, coordinating cross-functional teams and facilitating stakeholder engagement.
Monitor project health and performance using data and feedback. Prepare project reports and updates to support decision making.
Identify risks and issues. Recommend and implement solutions or alternatives to ensure successful project execution.
Contribute to continuous process improvement by evaluating tools, workflows, and best practices.
Mentor and train other staff.
Represent the project management function in institutional initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of relevant experience.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
CIVIL SERVICE EXEMPTION
Program Direction/Control: Managerial or professional level positions having substantial responsibility for directing or controlling program operations and who are accountable for the allocation of resources and program results.
