CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Within Continuum College, consult with subject matter experts on the design, development, and teaching of university or professional education content.
BASIC FUNCTION
Collaborate with faculty and cross-functional teams to design and develop engaging, accessible courses that align with learning outcomes and program goals. Oversee the creation of instructional content, assessments, and multimedia assets while ensuring timely delivery and adherence to best practices in instructional design.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under general supervision, complete routine assigned tasks and projects, including making decisions about methods for creating and displaying course content. Supervisor screens assignments for unusual or difficult problems and selects techniques and procedures to be applied on non-routine work.
TYPICAL WORK
Partner with course designers, faculty members, and cross-functional team members to co-create engaging, pedagogically-sound courses tailored to diverse learner needs.
Work with subject matter experts to articulate clear, measurable learning outcomes that align with program goals and guide course structure.
Co-develop formative and summative assessments that directly map to learning outcomes, ensuring they effectively measure student progress and mastery.
Analyze curricular goals and available technologies to recommend instructional methods that enhance learning and engagement.
Design and author learning activities, including writing instructional text and creating simple graphics, tables, and visual aids to support comprehension.
Collaborate with media producers to develop storyboards and scripts for videos, animations, and other media assets that enrich the learning experience.
Author and structure course content within the learning management system, ensuring accessibility, usability, and alignment with instructional design best practices.
Coordinate with assigned project managers to ensure timely delivery of course components and adherence to production schedules.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
CIVIL SERVICE EXEMPTION
Continuing Education: Individuals that have responsibility for administrative, operational and/or educational components of extension or continuing education activities or programs.
