CLASS SERIES CONCEPT

Develop creative, original design solutions, and visual content that supports and promotes Continuum College’s Professional and Continuing Education programming and instructional content.

BASIC FUNCTION

Independently provides creative direction and oversight for the conceptual development of digital and print graphics projects ensuring high standards of quality and consistent adherence to brand guidelines.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under limited supervision, applies creative, original solutions to develop and design visual communication projects.

TYPICAL WORK

Lead updates to existing print and digital collateral, and revise templates as assigned throughout the full production cycle, including collaboration, revisions, proofing, routing, and preparing files for print or final digital use.

Convert print graphics into web‑ready formats, prepare images for online deployment, and upload/manage imagery within the content management system.

Identify project goals and potential process improvements, developing design concepts that address both user needs and organizational objectives.

Lead the design, development, and evaluation of creative concepts and solutions in partnership with internal teams and stakeholders.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, creative leadership, and graphic designers to refine concepts and establish design direction for projects.

Oversee planning and development of visual strategies in coordination with Continuum College staff, administrators, and leadership.

Design and deliver visual content for print, email, and digital channels, including infographics, report layouts, social media graphics, flyers, illustrations, and other visual assets.

Select, size, crop, and place images using strong visual composition skills, drawing from photo databases and stock resources to align with audience needs and project goals.

Apply Continuum College and UW brand standards while creating visually compelling, innovative design solutions.

Use specialized design software and layout tools—along with typographic, photographic, and color management expertise—to produce polished and effective visual materials and web pages.

Edit and proof visual assets to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency prior to publication or distribution.

Organize, maintain, and manage shared image files and digital assets for easy team access and long‑term continuity.

Maintain thorough documentation of design decisions, production methods, and workflow approaches to preserve historical context and support future projects.

May supervise students, staff and others.

Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of relevant experience.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

CIVIL SERVICE EXEMPTION

Graphic Arts and Publications: Individuals having prescribed academic preparation or special training in the fields of graphic arts, printing and publications, and who are assigned to a major academic or administrative unit and who are responsible for the development and design of scholarly or related publications, or the full range of printing and publication activities.
