BASIC FUNCTION
Supervise a squad or shift of security personnel at Harborview Medical Center or University of Washington Medical Center.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Positions allocated to this class perform patrol duties of the security officer, and are responsible for supervising a group of security officers or other security staff.
TYPICAL WORK
Assign duties; train and supervise security officers to a shift or squad;
Evaluate performance of subordinates to determine training requirements and deficiencies;
Assist in development and conduct of training programs for security;
Investigate complaints of disturbance, accidents, stolen property, or criminal activity;
Patrol medical center buildings and grounds on foot or by vehicle to maintain security;
Issue citations for violations of regulations;
Write reports covering activity of squad or shift assigned; review and correct reports of subordinate officers;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – UW Contract Classified
High school graduation or equivalent; possession of a valid driver’s license; two years of work experience as a campus police, public safety or security officer, or equivalent; no previous felony convictions.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
