Typical Responsibilities
Produces daily talk or “magazine” radio programming and contributes to editorial process for KUOW radio. Researches and identifies stories for broadcast based on mission, goals and priorities. Contacts and books guests. Provides hosts and interviewers with background research. Provides program production technical assistance. Directs or call-screens as assigned. Presents content suggestions for evaluation. Gathers, writes, produces and edits feature-length reports and occasional news spots or wraps as assigned by News Director. Performs all aspects of live or automated daily board shift including combo board operation, announcing, and newscasting. Helps train part-time production assistants and performs occasional on-air work.
Supervisory Responsibility
Direct supervision of staff is not required within this series.
Overtime Eligibility
FLSA overtime status is based on the position’s duties and responsibilities, and whether or not the position’s gross salary is less than the federal FLSA salary basis test or the Washington state salary basis test, whichever is higher. Professional Staff Exemption
Public Information: Managerial or professional level positions having substantial responsibility for planning and directing the development and communication of information designed to keep the public informed of the institution’s programs, accomplishments, and point of view. Individuals exercise discretion in determining content of written copy. Other duties may include creating ideas, laying out artwork, contacting media representatives, and representing the institution directly before the general public.
