CLASS SERIES CONCEPT

Provide assistance to medical and nursing staff by performing tasks involving direct and indirect patient care, including capillary blood glucose checks, treatments, transportation, and clerical tasks.

BASIC FUNCTION

Lead and provide information to Patient Care Technicians and other assigned staff, and perform the work of Patient Care Technician.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general supervision, regularly assign, instruct, and check the work of others, train and orient staff, and provide feedback on employee performance. Assist in carrying out the services of the unit by serving as a contact for other patient care providers and identifying and resolving concerns.

TYPICAL WORK

Serve as a point of contact for the department;

Assist in resolving problems concerning equipment functioning, staff coverage, and interpretation of policies & procedures;

Participate in interviewing applicants;

Train and orient new employees, students, and/or other patient care providers to the department;

Provide feedback to department manager and/or delegee for employee performance evaluations, corrective action plans, and training plans;

Review and correct the work performed by others for compliance with established procedures;

Identify and resolve problems or unusual situations; recommend changes as necessary;

Monitor and evaluate policies and procedures to suggest operational changes;

Participate in quality assurance projects and initiatives, in coordination with Manager and/or department leadership;

Perform the work of the Patient Care Technician;

Serve on task forces and committees;

Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Nursing Assistant-Certified (NAC) with the State of Washington.

AND

High School graduation and one year of patient care technician experience.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
