CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Within Continuum College, provide direct support, guidance, and problem-solving assistance to students across various stages of their academic journey. Focus on student success, retention, and satisfaction through personalized communication, coaching, and administrative support.
BASIC FUNCTION
Provide individualized support to students, helping them navigate academic programs, institutional policies, and administrative processes.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under direct supervision, responsible for advising and operational support with a focus on advising and compliance within a specific student population. Support program operations through direct service, documentation, and coordination with internal units.
TYPICAL WORK
Provide support and guidance to students, helping them understand and navigate institutional policies, program requirements, and available resources.
Advise students on a range of topics including enrollment, program logistics, and personal support services.
Refer students to appropriate professional resources when needed.
Maintain accurate student records in institutional databases.
Assist with registration and onboarding processes.
Support compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
Respond to student communications via email and phone.
Participate in student events such as orientations, workshops, and community-building activities.
Coordinate across internal units to ensure a smooth student experience.
Assist with documentation and data entry.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one year of relevant experience.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
CIVIL SERVICE EXEMPTION
Counseling of Students: Individuals responsible for directing and/or participating in providing academic, athletic, career, medical, financial aid, student activity, and/or personal counseling to students.
