CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Within Continuum College, oversee curriculum development and teaching of extension or continuing education training/course materials and/or programs. May also oversee administrative, operational and/or educational components of online, extension, continuing education, or fee-based programs.
If the primary focus is to coordinate continuing education programs, focusing on the operational aspects, then a Continuing Education Coordinator job profile may be more appropriate.
BASIC FUNCTION
Coordinate a standard portfolio of non-credit educational programs, managing logistics, financial planning, and stakeholder engagement while facilitating orientations, meetings, and client visits. Support program operations through budget preparation, vendor negotiations, database management, and communication, while also assisting with technology troubleshooting and client screening.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under general supervision, work closely with course developers and faculty members to envision, design, develop, and implement courses in a variety of modalities across the Continuum College portfolio.
TYPICAL WORK
Coordinate a caseload of customized non-credit educational programs annually.
Arrange visits, tours and lectures for program in caseload.
Arrange and facilitate planning sessions with Continuum College leadership and campus faculty and staff.
Plan, schedule and facilitate orientations and teachers’ meetings for all programs in caseload.
Work with clients and Continuum College leadership to plan and implement client visit itineraries; attend client visits as needed.
Direct student workers in event planning and logistics for programs in caseload.
Prepare budgets and cost estimates for programs developed by Continuum College leadership.
Negotiate services and costs for catering, housing and admissions fees.
Manage payment via honorariums, petty cash, travel expense vouchers and purchase orders for staff.
Monitor program expenses compared to program budgets.
Create student information system programs and coordinate with registration staff to troubleshoot.
Answer email accounts regularly and send emails in response to initial client inquiries.
Assist with client screening through on-line research.
Assist staff with technology and database related questions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
CIVIL SERVICE EXEMPTION
Continuing Education: Individuals that have responsibility for administrative, operational and/or educational components of extension or continuing education activities or programs.
