CLASS SERIES CONCEPT

Within the Institute for Health Metrics Evaluation (IHME), provide support to assigned research team, through database management, data quality management, statistical modeling, computational analysis, data visualization and production of technical research papers and presentations.

BASIC FUNCTION

Provide support to assigned research team through highly specialized database management, data quality management and routine, but complex computational processes.

Provide support to assigned research team through highly specialized database management, data quality management and routine, but complex computational processes.

TYPICAL WORK

Review databases containing health and spatial data from multiple sources such as vital registration systems, verbal autopsies, surveys, censuses, health or administrative records and published studies;

Maintain, update or adapt databases for use in geospatial health, health risk, mortality and other health related reports; Work directly with Researchers to explain, modify, maintain or identify new health, health risk, disease and mortality data, databases or data sources;

Design and explain the data analytic processes for the production of data used in modeling designs;

Create, execute or review diagnostic and summary reports on data, databases or computational processes to assess performance or communicate findings to team members;

Match information from data sources with information from IHME reports to identify and resolve any discrepancies;

Develop, maintain and document an automated workflow and code system for processing and formatting data sources from existing central databases into a standardized input for geospatial modeling;

Execute queries on databases to respond to the operational needs of the team, other IHME teams or stakeholders;

Develop protocols to store data for use in multiple analytical processes;

Archive, catalogue and annotate data sets according to IHME standards;

Develop novel presentations of data and results for use by research teams, or external stakeholders;

May serve as a resource to others regarding the data, databases or geospatial mapping protocols;

Work with other team members to assist with relevant tasks, facilitate learning new skills, and to help resolve emerging problems on different projects;

Participate in and/or lead internal trainings; and

Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, engineering, computer science or related and four years of related experience

OR

Equivalent combination of education/experience.
