BASIC FUNCTION
Lead respiratory care staff, provide advanced respiratory care to patients.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others.
TYPICAL WORK
Prioritize and distribute workload and coordinate clinical activities of respiratory care staff;
Participate in respiratory care special projects;
Participate in continuing education and orientation of new staff;
Provide feedback on employee performance for the evaluation process and corrective actions;
Facilitate optimal utilization of available respiratory care equipment; obtain additional equipment (e.g., renting) as necessary;
Perform duties of a Respiratory Care Practitioner
May participate in respiratory care research activities;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a respiratory care program approved by the State of Washington Department of Health AND eighteen months of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
OR
equivalent education/experience.
LEGAL REQUIREMENT
Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (Registered Respiratory Therapist – RRT) by the State of Washington.
