BASIC FUNCTION

Direct the operations section of a large parking services program.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Direct an operations section of a large parking services program; responsible for coordination of parking for major campus events requiring direct and detailed communication with public safety, fire, health and other related departments; supervise parking staff.

TYPICAL WORK

With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applicants, train new employees, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action;

Ensure proper working condition of parking system equipment, e.g., radio communications systems, toll gates, coin changers and related;

Assist in the development of the departmental budget;

Interpret parking and traffic regulations;

Inspect parking areas;

Work with departments to resolve special parking problems, e.g., loading zone, reserved parking, construction;

Determine staff and equipment needed for athletic or special events;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS – Classified Non-Union

High School Diploma, or GED Certificate; AND four years of experience in a high-volume parking system, one year of which must be in a supervisory capacity. College coursework in business administration, or related field, may substitute, year-for-year, for required experience, excluding supervisory experience.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
