Motor Equipment Mechanic Trade Trainee

BASIC FUNCTION

Perform semi-skilled work of graduated complexity in the repair and service of automobiles, motorized farm equipment and heavy construction equipment in the institution’s on-the-job automotive mechanic trades training program.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

As a trade trainee for the motorized equipment mechanic journey class receive on-the-job and academic training to achieve journey status.

TYPICAL WORK

Under guidance of a journeyworker, perform various maintenance and repair duties, with special emphasis on those duties required to complete the specific on-the-job automotive mechanic trades training program;

Obtain, prepare, and distribute materials to the job site and assist in assembly and installation;

Clean up and maintain shop areas, work sites, and storage areas;

Complete on-the-job motorized equipment mechanic trades training program and related academic training;

Perform related duties and functions as specified in approved trades training program;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – UW Contract Classified

High school graduation or equivalent; OR six months of experience as a Maintenance Aide, or equivalent.
