DEFINITION

Lead and work with mason/plasterers to perform journey-level work in plastering, cement finishing, brick and block laying, and related work.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Positions in this class are distinguished by responsibility to lead and instruct journey masons and plasterers in the alteration, repair, and maintenance of buildings, facilities, and equipment.

TYPICAL WORK

Perform all duties of a mason/Plasterer: lead assigned personnel in the performance of work;

Assure adherence to safety rules and precautions by assigned personnel;

Develop preliminary cost estimates for installation and repair;

Develop methods and procedures to be followed by assigned personnel;

May perform work in other trades;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – UW Contract Classified

One year, full-time experience as a journey mason/plasterer or equivalent trade skill. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license may be required.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Examination Requirements:

A job element examination (including written, E & T, and oral components) scored on the basis of job related experience, training, skill, ability and other elements which are established through job analysis.
