DEFINITION

Operate, adjust, and maintain multiple format labeling and inserter production mailing equipment.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Positions in this class are distinguished from the Mailing List Equipment Operator I by responsibility for full-time work assignment to multiple format labeling machines and station inserters such as the Cheshire, Magna-craft, Kurt-Rudy, Pitney-Bowes, and Phillipsburg models.

TYPICAL WORK

Operate, adjust, and maintain multiple format labeling mailing machines;

Label mailings using high speed labeling machines;

Operate, adjust, and maintain all types of inserting equipment (single, two, or multiple station inserters);

Complete and file necessary forms with the U.S. Postal Service;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS – Classified Non-Union

High School graduation or equivalent; AND one year of experience as a Mailing List Equipment Operator I or equivalent. Six months of additional relevant experience may substitute for required education.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Examination Requirements:

A job element examination (including written, E & T and oral components) scored on the basis of job related experience, training, skill, ability and other elements which are established through job analysis.
