DEFINITION

Operate production mailing equipment.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Positions in this class are distinguished by responsibility for operating equipment to prepare material for mailing.

TYPICAL WORK

Operate, adjust and maintain mailing machines;

Label and/or address mailings using high speed labeling machines;

Operate, adjust and maintain inserting equipment;

Collate, fold and insert by machine or hand; sort, tie and bag;

Enter charges on billing cards;

Complete and file necessary forms with the U.S. Postal Service.

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS – Classified Non-Union

High school graduation or equivalent; or, six months general clerical or related work experience.

Examination Requirements:

A job element examination (including written, E & T and oral components) scored on the basis of job related experience, training, skill, ability and other elements which are established through job analysis.
