Insulation Worker Lead

BASIC FUNCTION

Lead others and perform mechanical insulation work.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others. Develop work methods and procedures and design projects.

TYPICAL WORK

Ensure adherence to safety rules and precautions;

Prepare preliminary cost estimates for installation and repair projects; design projects;

Develop work methods and procedures for assigned personnel;

Insulate domestic hot and cold water lines, high and low pressure steam lines, chilled water and refrigerant lines, heat pump systems, roof drain lines, air conditioning systems, boilers and tanks by application of fiberglass, calcium silicate and assorted petroleum by-product insulating materials;

Mold, fabricate and repair special parts and fittings;

Operate and maintain hand and power tools and equipment;

Remove and repair asbestos and other insulation materials from facilities and equipment;

Inspect work to ensure quality and compliance with proper methods and procedures;

Perform duties of an Insulation Worker;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

One year of full-time experience as a journey insulation worker or equivalent trade skill

equivalent education/experience.
