Facilities Drafting Technician 2

DEFINITION

Prepare sketches, working drawings, and free-hand architectural presentations necessary for remodeling and renovation of campus buildings and mechanical facilities; may lead other drafting technicians.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Individuals assigned to this class perform duties requiring full professional competence normally expected in architectural engineering offices. Work requires extensive knowledge of architectural graphics, drafting methods and techniques, drafting systems, drawing reproduction systems, architectural drafting standards, building codes, building materials, and building equipment hardware; may lead work of other personnel.

TYPICAL WORK

Gather and develop field information necessary in preparing working drawings and estimates;

Prepare working drawings for construction and/or remodeling projects;

Make estimates and material takeoffs from drawings and assist in writing specifications;

Prepare charts for presentation of statistical data;

Assist in design and draw heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning systems for existing and remodeled buildings; maintain drawings of all campus facilities “”as built””

Operate blueprint duplicating equipment;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS – Classified Non-Union

Two years of training in drafting or architecture, OR two years of practical experience as a facilities drafting technician, or equivalent.

Examination Requirements:

A job element examination (including written, E & T and oral components) scored on the basis of job related experience, training, skill, ability and other elements which are established through job analysis.
