Electronic Media Producer Lead

BASIC FUNCTION

Lead other Electronic Media Producers in design and evaluation of productions.

Design, create, produce, direct and edit complex live and recorded audio-video/television programs and material with technical and production values and content comparable to prevailing national broadcast standards.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general direction, regularly assign, instruct and check work of employees developing television programs, films and audio-video instructional materials for local and national distribution.

TYPICAL WORK

Produce, organize and direct all phases in the production of television programs, films and audio/video instructional materials;

Provide leadership and support to Electronic Media Producers I and II on their assigned productions by participating in and designing productions; review and discuss daily footage as necessary; provide training and support in use of electronic editing and other complex equipment;

Develop budgets, write grant proposals, develop production schedules and reports;

Direct, organize and manage all phases of complex productions and series which may include directing and/or performing writing scripts, blocking, audio, graphics, visualizing and shooting.

Perform off-line videotape editing, time-code logging, and on-line videotape conforming, using high end, production house-style computerized editing system(s);

Produce, direct and edit special events such as duplex teleconferencing via satellite and preparing premasters of interactive video-disc materials and/or other advanced technologies.

Perform the duties of Electronic Media Producer II;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS – Classified Non-Union

A Bachelor’s degree with major field of study in television, communications, or instructional media AND five years progressively responsible experience in television and audio production with instructional television specialization

OR
equivalent education/experience.
