BASIC FUNCTION
At the highest technical level, develop procedures for and conduct complex electroneurodiagnostic testing and other electrophysiologic examinations in all settings; perform technical interpretation of data and relate findings to physicians or neurophysiologist; collect and analyze data; manage clinical investigatory activities; and train Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists and others.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under general direction, devise and standardize electrophysiologic tests for clinical use; independently perform complex examinations such as electrophysiologic tests requiring extensive computer analysis and/or computation of recorded data; provide technical interpretation of data and provide work direction to others.
TYPICAL WORK
Develop and perform complex procedures for examinations in a variety of environments such as at the bedside, intensive care units, emergency units, and operating rooms;
Identify technical and physiologic problems during examinations in complex environments; troubleshoot and resolve problems encountered;
Collect and analyze data using computerized systems; review and edit recordings and provide technical interpretation to physicians or neurophysiologists for clinical correlations;
Provide input regarding the review and purchase of new equipment;
Act as a resource for other technologists;
Participate in research projects, conferences and technical meetings;
Assist in assigning and scheduling work;
Provide input during performance evaluations of other staff;
Perform the work of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists II;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Successful completion of an Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist training program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation requirements AND two years of experience in a laboratory performing clinical electroneurodiagnostic tests
