Perform administrative work to support the operation of a clinical laboratory.

BASIC FUNCTION

Perform administrative work in a clinical laboratory.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general direction, regularly assign, instruct, and check the work of others.

TYPICAL WORK

Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of assigned staff; provide input to the supervisor and/or manager on employee performance;

May participate in the interview process for new staff; participate in new employee orientation and training assessment;

Resolve routine daily issues, such as specimen problems and staff assignments;

Assist supervisor with developing and implementing data collection and analysis to support process improvement and departmental QA activities;

Draft, edit, and review documentation including policies, procedures, job aids, forms, and logs;

May assist with inventory and order supplies;

Perform the work of a Clinical Laboratory Coordinator;

Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduation or equivalent AND three years of clinical or public health laboratory experience

OR

Equivalent education/experience.
