Workshops: Prepare to retire from UW

It goes without saying, but retirement is one of biggest transitions in your career. If that transition is nearing for your career at UW, attend one — or several — of the retirement workshops organized by the UW Benefits Office. These are designed to help ease the transition for UW employees who are planning to retire within the next 12 months.

Guests (spouse, partner, child) are welcome to attend the workshop as well, provided there’s sufficient space. Contact Benefits to request bringing a guest. Be sure to specify the workshop title and date.

UWSRP: UW Supplemental Retirement Plan Workshop

This workshop is intended for employees who were active participants in the UW Retirement Plan (UWRP) on February 28, 2011 and who, at the time of retirement, anticipate being at least age 62 with at least 10 years’ continuous participation in the UWRP.

Most UWRP participants know that by contributing to their retirement plan, the UW matches 100 percent of their contributions, and that the employee invests total contributions into UWRP-approved funds.

However, not everyone realizes that there is a second part to the UWRP — the UW Supplemental Retirement Plan (UWSRP). This workshop provides an explanation of the UWSRP, the eligibility requirements, and the details about how the UWSRP benefit is calculated.
